Thai Top Ten in Richmond

They just changed their name again. Nik Thai and Pho or something like that. We entered and said hello and then waited 10 minutes for someone to come to the table. We ordered and while it was quick, the waitress forgot one of our meals. There were only two other patrons. It was lunch but still all the serving sizes were small. When we were done my son asked if we could walk over to Martins to get something to eat. The ambiance is that of an empty room with wooden tables. Pad Thai: bland and sweet. Spicy Beef Salad: No spice and they must have been out of cilantro. Oddly they used parsley. The grilled beef may have been reheated. There were no signs that it was grilled as it was mono colored gray and chewy. Panang Curry: Also no spice. They must have something against heat. Aside from the really small serving, it was salty as all get out. This location seems to kill restaurants. But this place will kill itself. Don't bother.

Spicy and awesome...don't take the warnings as a challenge...like me.

We gave this place 4 star considering its competitive pricing. However, the food is probably 3.5 star. We ordered calamari, and it's quite different than I thought - big piece calamari w too much breaking and it is hard to chew. I would not recommend this. We ordered pad see ew w tofu, and it was good. Hubby got garlic black bean chili chicken. It was not Thai spicy and the chicken is slightly rubbery and chewy. However, we got lunch special (w spring roll) on a Saturday afternoon, which we felt was a good value. The host is extremely nice.
