If anyone asks me where I would like to go to celebrate any birthday, anniversary, or any other thing a person could celebrate, I give the same answer every time. THE BOOKSTORE SPEAKEASY! Every. Single. Time. It’s a very cool place. And it’ll make YOU cool, too, just for going! Why? I thought you’d never ask.First off, it’s rather a small-ish place, all cozy and dim lighting to resemble the old time candlestick lighting, and well, a speakeasy is supposed to be a secret, so no bright lights! And the menu is given to you in an old book, pasted into the book..shhhh, don’t say anything to anyone! Also, there are rules. Yup. RULES. Like “no cellphones”, we gotta keep it real. (actually you can have your darn phone. But if you want to really experience this place... don’t. ) The hammered copper bar is gorgeous, as are the bartenders...um..I mean the bar DRINKS! Yeah. The drinks. These are so unique that you must go back there often, just to experience them. My fave? “Trollop in a Tram Car”. There’s one called “Forbidden Fruit Cocktail”, the ever popular “Side Car”. The bar munchies are yum. There’s roasted chickpeas, black truffle fries (OMG these are the BEST!) and more! The food here is amazeballs! And I’m a very picky, hate most veggies and most things that are good food to an adult, I turn my nose up. But not here. It’s magic, I’m telling you! Oh! They also have live music on certain evenings. It’s music from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, the Flapper years! And good Jazz too. Better call to make a reservation, as Thursday and Friday nights...
