The Great American Grill in Pismo Beach

This is the restaurant inside the Garden Inn. The waitress was very attentive. I was the only customer in the place. It wasn't very busy. I sat next to the window so I could watch outside and see the TV that was playing. I got the grilled chicken sandwich with Canadian bacon. It was pretty good. I was a bit annoyed by the house flies and gnats flying around my head and food.

I give this restaurant the two stars because of the location and service. I was the only person there so quick service (location it is literally 20 feet from room the hotel room). But I have never been so underwhelmed by a restaurant... while I was sitting at the table eating my cold pasta and ragú I was thinking about meals I could make in my room with just a fridge and a microwave. I don't recommend it... unless you are in a hurry to pay 20 dollars for cold past and a beer.

Prior to my writing this, the average restaurant rating was a 4.5. I can say unequivocally this is not a 4.5 restaurant. As a location to get a hot hotel breakfast, yes, it is very good compared to other hotels, but not to other restaurants. The dinner we had was the smothered chicken and the marinara pasta. Both tasted like they were hastily prepared, such as at a nicer fast food restaurant or a low-end casual restaurant like a Denny's. I ate here because of its high rating but was sorely disappointed. If you want a true standalone restaurant with a 4.5 rating of food, this is not your place. But in terms of a hotel breakfast, yes, it ranks among the best.
