Honestly, it was just very average, somewhat disappointing. I like the place, like the fact it’s wood burning oven pizza; we had two pizzas: one with sausage another with shiitake mushrooms. Both had a minimal amount of what was supposed to be the feature of the pizza, very strange. Most slices either had no sausage at all or no mushrooms at all or max, one small piece. Plus they really like their raw garlic slices on the pizza. Service was excellent though;

Great service. Great food, they greet you with a smile and you want to stay awhile, the drive was worth it!

If you have been to the original Lower Queen Anne location of The Masonry, you know two things: (1) it's a great place (2) it's difficult to actually patronize because of its diminutive size. The new Fremont location addresses #2. It's huge by comparison, with tables up front, a long bar, a few tables in the back, and a bunch of outdoor space that will be nice when the weather cooperates. Ambiance is, well, a matter of taste. The space is beautiful in its own way, but maybe not "welcoming," exactly. It's extremely modern and stark. Concrete floors, unfinished ceilings, floor to ceiling windows. The relative vastness of the new location, and the sharp angles, light colored walls, and lots of light fixtures that were turned way up bright after the early November sunset. This may have been an oversight, and once normal operating procedures are in place, they'll be turned down after dark, but more than one of us noted how bright it felt inside. It didn't bother me greatly; it just emphasized the starkness--and the extreme cleanliness! A minor point, but in an age of streaming services, I appreciated the turntable that was spinning tunes.
