Great place to go for a beer. Be sure you check out the downstairs part too. Very cool spot.

A once absolute destination and shining star in the world of Belgian beer bars is gone. Every night of my trips to Asheville would ALWAYS end with an unbeatable treat of a few tremendous and rare Belgian beers in the Belgian bar at The Thirsty Monk. I was devastated to find that this rare gem has been reduced to pouring Delerium and their house made beers. Now I'm sure the house made beers are lovely and let's face it Delerium has a fine line up of beers, but to take this bar from what it was to this is truly devastating. Some of my finest beer adventures were in the Thirsty Monk, exploring the finest the Belgian beers world had to offer with tremendously knowledgeable staff. But my experience today from signing in with my license and a phone number, hearing the bartender mention that he didn't really care much for Belgian beer, and seeing the shell of what this place used to offer is a disappointment. I really have no need to spend my time and money at The Thirsty Monk anymore. I'm sure the leadership of the bar had to make difficult decisions as they closed the doors for a year during the worst of the pandemic, but they have really done away with something special and its a real shame.
