Top Notch Diner in Cortland

The food here is marginal at best. Canned mushrooms, something that passes for cheese but isn’t, and other substandard fare.What’s more distressing than the food is the owner’s apparent disrespect for the American flag. It has been flown outside this restaurant upside down for at least the last two months. As a veteran of more than 30 years I find this incredibly disrespectful to every person who has served our country. Clearly the owner is not aware that the flag is to be flown upside down only as a sign of duress, and immediately upon relief, it is to be flown properly. While I’m aware the owner has had a previous disagreement with the county health department, I do not see this as justification for the improper display of our flag.I have personally witnessed our troops under actual duress from enemy combatants numerous times and never once did we consider flying the flag upside down. I can only assume the owner of Top Notch Diner believes he or she is about to be attacked by the neighboring McDonalds or Subway.Disgraceful. I will never eat here again.

I would give it a zero if I. Could. Used to have great service. Called to ask to speak to owner. Order was not all there . Food not what I ordered Put a man on the phone he kept going well what do you want me to do and continually asking girl what I ordered . I know when a baked potato is not in my take out. I know what beer battered fish looks like my fish was far from beer battered.. Asked if they changed cooks recently. Just because waitress wrote it down doesn’t mean the order was right. No chicken but 2 gumball size prices in buffalo wrap plenty of lettuce and sauce no blue cheese. Manager on duty laughed and repededly said what do you want me to do about it repededly while waitress repeated back what I ordered while he was laughing. Called next day to talk to owner told she is busy. Can’t get an owner on the phone. When I go in there they are sitting at counter eating usually. Won’t be back. If you look in the past I have posted great service favorite place one visit and a manager who laughs will chase away good customers
