I've had Toro over and over for take out during 2020. Food had been great, particularly the sauces and barbacoa even on the carry out. I've had several friends who dined in prepandemic w bad service experiences but I still wanted to try it for myself especially given the great food I've gotten on carryout. It saddens me to report a 6 top for an 8 pm dinner reservation received some of the worst service I've ever experienced. We were ignored for about 10 minutes at the hostess stand. Not a how are u or welcome just NOTHING. We our offered our name for the reservation and time and the response was "ok" and then no words or interaction just my party waiting and listening to the team talk amongst themselves about being in the "weeds" and who the people were in front of them (includes my party n two others). I interrupted and asked if they could tell us if we would have to continue to wait or would soon be seated they advised we would be sat IMMEDIATELY. We were not sat immediately but rather sat about another 10 minutes later. We reached our seats at about 8:25 it took 30 minutes to get drinks and we didn't get our dinner until about 10 pm. Our server never acknowledged the long waits let alone apologized for any of it. Nearly all meals were delivered to the table incorrectly and our server disappeared after delivery. My party feared if they waited for the proper order their 2 hour wait for a meal would become 3. I on the other hand waited for our server to check back to correct my food. By then my party had finishe...

Like so many others, we're trying to support local restaurants through the pandemic, and Toro Cantina has been on our list for a few weeks due to all the positive buzz we're heard & read. We ordered take-out on a Saturday night - it was prepped and ready for us to pick up promptly, and overall, the food was quite good. Between us, we had the empanadas, which were delicious and perfectly cooked, the queso fundido w/chicken, and both a jackfruit and a braised beef burrito. We also ordered candied squash, which got high marks from all of us. All in all, it was pricey, but we expected that, and, for the most part, the quality & quantity of food didn't make us feel cheated. Two complaints: the queso fundido, with the added chicken, was $16, and it was the size of a take-out soup container with very little chicken added. It was good, but absolutely not $16 worth of good. We definitely felt a little short-changed on that item. And the jackfruit in the burrito was so heavily salted that we all agreed it tasted like a mistake had been made - perhaps salted twice or an excess of whatever seasoning they use had been added. It was so salty that it was almost inedible. Fortunately, there was enough rice and beans in the burrito that my daughter was able to remove the jackfruit and she was still happy with what remained. Those issues aside, we were satisfied enough that we'd definitely order takeout again, and look forward to experiencing the atmosphere of the restaura...
