Upper Kirby in Houston

Made reservations for my parents for a birthday dinner and was ashamed of how unorganized it was and how it looked. From the picture it looks like a nice upscale restaurant, when m dad was seated he said he sat at a card table in some unstable chairs! The reservations was for 5pm on a Sunday. As they wait to be served, was told they still had to wait another hour to order as they was switching from brunch to dinner, so then my dad asked to just order and appetizer and again told no and to order drinks. My dad said him and his wife got up and left and went to another restaurant as they was to good looking to be treated any kind of way. It's really sad when you help your father plan a surprise dinner for his wife and they are both highly disappointed!

UPPER KIRBY BISTRO/Five Central we were confused upon driving up. Once you get closer to the door, you're able to see the signage for Upper Kirby. The Bistro is nestled in a Residential/ Commercial area of River Oaks Area, the building is magnificent. It has alot of character. We love the orginal wood floors, reminds me of California homes that were built in the early 1900s. The brick entry ways quite lovely when you see them hidden in the new renovations. Multiple themed areas, the red & black room looks grown & sexy and lastly, the outdoor patio looks like a fun time for young people (Hookah set ups)... lol, yes we saw all of that on our requested tour.We arrived ( Open Table) as soon as they opened. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our server Elmahi was efficient and extremely helpful. He placed our napkins in our laps. We immediately knew this was going to be a nice dining experience. On Tuesdays it's Happy Hour all day. With suggestions and many questions later, we ordered several dishes. We all love the Chicken, Mash Potato...

Loved this place! From The food and drinks, to the music and art… everything about this place was amazing. I will definitely be returning and I’ll be sure to ask for Josh as a server because he was great too!
