On Tuesday December 8, 2020 me and my 17 month old son along with a few friends were dining at Viet Thai Bistro in Alexandria LA. I do not feed my 17 month old son as he prefers to eat on his own, I also do not want to spoil him so have decided to allow him to feed himself as he prefers to. My husband agrees with our son feeding himself. My son does tend to make a bit of a mess when he eats as he is learning the new food taste and textures. Myself and my friends that were dining at the time are all Asian. At the end of the meal the owner said that I should beat my son while he clean up the floor because of the mess that my 17 month old son had made. I asked a friend that was sitting next to me what he said to confirm that I had heard him correctly. She also stated that she heard him say “Beat”. I responded to the owner that I would not “Beat” my son, and why should I? The owner then went quite. I asked the owner again why he said that I should "Beat" a 17 month old child for making a small mess. At the time his Son came to the table and said that his Father had not said “Beat” but had said “Teach”. Then the Owner said no, what I said was “Feed”. I responded “First of all I teach my 17 Month old Child to eat by himself , why should I feed him to not make a mess?” To which the owner responded “You do not understand English”. And I said we will not come here anymore , and The owner said "Good , thanks. You don't understand English". This was not my first experience of rudeness of the owner of the Viet Thai Bistro in Alexandria LA. When myself and other Asian friends go there. This owner has thrown the straws onto th...
