Village Inn in Alton

New to the area looking for a tasty breakfast. So glad I stopped here!! I was greeted warmly & seated right away. My server was funny & helpful when I asked for recommendations. My omelette was just right. Potatoes were so yummy, & the side of pancakes was truly delicious. I haven't eaten pancakes in years & I can't stop thinking of them. I left half of my food cuz I was stuffed. Priced are so reasonable & I learned all about Golden Boy bakery out of Kansas City where they get their pies. Can't wait to go back! Really great find.

This restaurant has absolutely no ambiance, but that is ok. Why is it, okay? You're not here for the decor, you're here for comfort food. Comfort food that is prepared in good ole homestyle fashion. Being new to the area, I am on a constant search for a good breakfast place. Having breakfast out is one of my favorite things. I swung by Village Inn on the recommendation of a Chicago Yelper. Yes, a out-of-towner turned me on to a diner in my new neighborhood. She loved their pancakes and she's a pancake snob. So, I went with one of their Wipe Board Specials. I choose, the Pancake Combo. It was a huge amount of food. Not only did I get two pancakes, I also enjoyed 2 eggs scrambled, 2 sausage links and 2 strips of bacon. Next time, I'm just going for the pancakes and a side of bacon. For me, it will be enough. Service was attentive, my coffee cup was constantly warmed up. They were friendly and you could tell who the regulars were, they greeted them by name. Wonderful, delicious food but I can not stand to have CNN shoved down my throat while I try and eat my meal I payed for. I will go to non-political venues for my meals. I refuse to be and shouldn't be forced to pay for a political agenda I may not agree with.
