Wharfside Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach

As a local knowing not to visit the touristy restaurants in Point, we made the mistake of eating here on Friday out of desperation. Here is what we got: 1) Clams on the half-shell that were dead (or smelled dead). My daughter was up all night vomiting with food poisoning. 2) Mussels that were the size of peas covered in dry, burnt spaghetti sauce 3) 'Chef's Recommended' medium-rare seared tuna served EXTREMELY well done 4) 2 overly diluted sugary drinks that took 45 minutes each to receive 5) A waitress that did nothing but complain about the horrid tips while she talked about her exciting life that we could give 2 shits about 6) A view of a completely dead restaurant on the eve of a major holiday 7) Pan seared scallops salted to absolute death and covered in all sorts of crap after we explicitly asked for NO TOPPINGS 8) And more absolute garbage cooked by 16 year old's in the kitchen. I swear to God that I will seek food from a dumpster before I ever set foot in this place again. Stopped here for some fresh seafood.  Had stuffed shrimp and scallops.  Was absolutely amazing.  Everyone gets coleslaw and a fun bread dish first which was a treat.  Great service and food.

Although trying to decipher the difference between Wharfside Patio Bar and Wharfside Restaurant initially felt like rocket science; I am in fact very grateful towards this place and it will forever hold an extremely special place in my heart. On consecutive nights, Wharfside (Patio Bar...?) gave us the distinct pleasure of providing us with some of the most elite cuisine I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. Let me first start by saying their coconut shrimp with mango jalapeño jelly sent me into a state of euphoria and I experienced an out-of-body moment. Additionally, I'm fairly certain their spicy crab and spinach dip is the missing ingredient towards the vaccine for fighting COVID-19. The ambiance there is also divine, as me and my soon-to-be wife, on a whim just showed up on a Saturday night with no reservation and they so graciously sat us without hesitation outside in a scenic area right near the water. I highly recommend to any foodie to come and try this place out as I assure you, you will not be dissapointed!
