Wine Bar & Art Gallery in Arnolds Park

It was late afternoon, and after a scheduled meet-up with an old High School friend went South, Gayle suggested we hop in the car and enjoy a beer together at West O.  I had already made my annual pilgrimage to West O the day before, and suggested something more to her liking - Wine. Since my last visit the Wine Bar and Art Gallery, the space has expanded into David Thoreson's Blue Water Studio.  David actually owns the entire building and if you look behind the door in what I call the "Livingroom" addition, you'll see that his work space is alive and well.  There's also an upstairs, but I have no idea what David has going on up there. As this is the 25th Anniversary of Blue Water Studios and the Wine Bar, all the art work on the walls is David Thoreson's, and what a stunning collection it is! Wife and I stopped and had a glass of wine. The girl who served us was really nice and helpful and they had a fairly decent selection.That being said we weren't really into the ambience that we imagined it would be. Not sure if it's the seating arrangement, the two rooms separated by a single doorway or the decorations on the wall but it wasn't all we thought it was going to be. It's not horrible by any means, don't get us wrong, but it could be a bit better. We did notice some global warming guest speaker advertisements up on the wall as "art" which we thought was a bit weird to have in a place like this. Also...

Fantastic Wine Bar & Art Gallery! Large selection of Wines, Domestic beer, and Craft beers with several unique appetizers along with several gourmet desserts! Great indoor and outdoor seating in the heart of the Okoboji Lakes area! Several unique pieces of art are on display as well as unique events such as live music, painting parties, and boutique displays! Love this place!
