Chicken Shack in Anchorage

Great Sunday brunch place! Went around 11:40am, moving slow after a late night. Glad to remember this place this morning since they open pretty late to be considered "brunch" (11:30am). Service started out great but really took a back seat once the bar area filled up with football fans here for the game. Not a single coffee refill until we had the check. Needed extra cream for the STOUT coffee. It was good and def not the watery kind found at a greasy spoon (but I need that cream!). Food excellent and chicken fried steak was so hot it burned my mouth. Gravy perfection, eggs cooked as ordered. Decent home fries. Chicken & waffles were great, waffles kind of cinnamon-flavored and came with maple syrup and honey butter. Left full and a little box with the leftover potatoes. Yum!

Don't let the location and outside fool you. Chicken Shack is cool, vibey and delicious. First time I enjoyed one of the chicken meals To Go. Perfectly fried chicken and a couple sides. Brunch was a biscuit w/ gravy for my mom and Hot Mess with potatoes, added Canadian bacon, delicious gravy and poached eggs for me. Recommend both. Convenient midtown location, great diverse and delicious menu, and both times had great service. Beer & wine w/ specialty Prosecco drinks during brunch.

I regret that I didn't get pictures. This place smelled absolutely amazing and I was told by the family it met their expectations. We went in for a friends birthday with a reserved section for our table. It was nice and roomy, the food was amazing and the general atmosphere is really neat. From the outside I thought we were walking up to a short order place- and was pleasantly surprised with the modern set up. My husband ordered the burger, daughter the chicken fried steak and boy ordered baskets. Our doesn't ordered waffles and other dishes. It was a bit disappointing that the birthday girl was really excited about the crab dish they offered only to be told they could do shrimp but they were out of crab. That's like, we don't have bratwurst but here let me throw a hot dog on there. So two things I had issues with, one why are you going to serve thick fluffy waffles and a tiny little cup of syrup?
