Hong Kong East Ocean was a sight for sore eyes! We've been looking for a great Dim Sum place to replace Palette in San Mateo and after I got my COVID19 vaccine I really wanted some comfort food. Enter in Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant. Starting out, their soup dumplings were flavored very well and definitely comparable in quality to Palette. I also loved that they had crunchy taro (4 pieces each), which has always been difficult to find outside of Irving St. in San Francisco. Additionally, I loved their bao pork buns, which while a bit on the smaller side, were quite flavorful and filling. The only item I wasn't the biggest fan of was the fried shrimp, but I tend to find the texture of shrimp in Dim Sum a bit odd sometimes, so I would just likely leave it off our next order. Otherwise? I think we have a new favorite Dim Sum place!
