Tamari Bar in Seattle

Very solid Izakaya vibe here - you can sense that behind the bar  they are proud of the food they are preparing and sending out. The food was delicious and arrived mindfully prepared.  The service is helpful, recommended great small plates, and reminded us to catch the tail end of excellent happy hour prices. I would definitely return.

Tamari bar is my go to Japanese restaurant in Cap Hill! I come here about once a month. They have the most refreshing highballs (good selection too) and variety of menu items that can quench your hunger. My usual orders are a umeshu highball, buta pork belly bao and a bento juu box. You cant really go wrong ordering anything here. Its also surprisingly easy to get a seat even during typical peak dinner times. Staff are very friendly and quick to help you out. The ambiance can be pretty flexible for any occasion (date night, friend hangout, family gathering) with its bar, patio, indoor seatings (there are seats more on the inside which can be quieter-great for family gatherings) and seats in the main area that are more fun and lively-date nights or friend gatherings). I also appreciate the quirky decor (projector that plays ghibli films or other anime videos onto the wall above the bar, vintage japanese photography near the bathroom area).

Everything this place does is with integrity, creativity and true art.  You can't go wrong here with any of the dishes, and the menu specials change frequently so you can go there often and always have something new to try.  Their drink and sake selection are amazing and so are the wait staff.  Food preparation and attention to detail are so impressive to me, and if you don't see something on the menu the kitchen is happy to make it for you.  From service to food quality to ambiance, Tamari Bar gets 5 stars from me!
