I seek out restaurants for quality sashimi and this place absolutely rips you off for what they give. The tako was slightly unusual, but not expertly prepared. Portions were TINY and the waitress assured there would be two pieces per item. I would not have had the expectation if she hadn’t sold it this way. Rice was anything but moist or soft. The worst feeling is walking away from a splurge you had been excited for, and regretting not having gone somewhere else instead.

My wife made a reservation for Friday evening since we both were craving some Japanese food. I didn’t have much of expectation since many “sushi” restaurants have been disappointing.I just have to say that this Tanuki Izakaya was unexpectedly wonderful! Attentive service even though there was only one server the time we were there. He was such a rockstar.Everything we had was fresh and done right.Very generous slice of fish for nigiri-zushi.Amazingly delicious chawanmushi. The rice of the Nigiri-zushi was warm and that’s how nigiri supposed to be. We can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.
