My wife and I visited Thibodeaux's Cajun Food last Friday while in Houston to see the Chicago White Sox get trounced by the Astros the 18th and 19th(maybe the Astros have figured out a new way to cheat and win...sorry Houston...not sorry...#HTXoncecheatersalwayscheaters). We had time to waste before checking into our hotel and I'd seen the reviews prior so made the trek to Baytown. As well documented by other Yelpers of more recent vintage, we were not to be disappointed. Upon entering our server named Poppy gleefully greeted us and asked if we had any questions, which I had one. What is Boudin? He promptly ran to the back and brought us a sample. As I learned, Boudin are various kinds of sausage in French, Luxembourgish, Belgian, Québécois, Acadian, Aostan, Louisiana Creole and Cajun cuisine. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo… , if you trust Wikipedia. TCF uses their Boudin in several of their menu items. While we had no previous comparative experiences to draw from, TCF's Boudin excited the taste buds, and we announced that we'll be having some of that, and a few other items! Poppy is a wonderful character and happy to chat when he is not taking care of other customers. We learned in mentioning the purpose of our Houston trip that he too is a native Chicagoan and like us a diehard White Sox fan. We shared stories about our recollections of old Comiskey Park, the Southside Hitmen and more. He gave us a bit of local historical perspective also. It was a great visit and he made us feel at home in many ways. Ultimately, the food is why you should go even if it is a bit out of the way as it was for us. But well worth the trip. Thanks Poppy and the...
