The food is so delicious, fresh, and high quality! It feels so clean and the restaurant was so clean and cozy, even on a Friday night, which is great compared to other Japanese restaurants that are jam packed with people! It was actually reasonably priced (for a Japanese sushi restaurant in River Oaks District). I highly recommended them and I will most definitely come again!!

Service was great. Food was delicious. Tried tan tan men, unagi bowl, miso soup, it was all worth. I'd eat ital again. Otoro was fatty and delicious. 10/10 worth every cent i spent.

Zen Japanese Izakaya is a hidden gem. One of the rare finds that serves quality sushi during this pandemic. My favorite is their chirashi - great variety of fish and always fresh. Owner is very nice. Can't wait to come back when the dining room opens again
